Maggie might almost think Jake was perfect, except that he wants to tear down her home to build a golf course.
Maggie Moran is an 8th generation Moran to live in the cottage by the sea. She arrived as a teenager from Dublin to live with her grandparents and since then, has carved out a perfect life for herself. The sentimental attachment to her home is strong and she vows that she will not sell. Easier said than done, when the pressure is put on by the handsome and charismatic businessman from the States.
Jake Ballard is in Ireland for the summer to get his golf course and resort off the ground in the scenic County Clare cliffside town. He planned to stay only three months in the Emerald Isle, but his undeniable attraction to the feisty Maggie has him wondering if he truly wants to leave—or destroy everything she loves.
All is fair in love and war, but can Jake and Maggie possibly figure out a way to mix business with pleasure and have what they both really want?

This was a good book, but I thought the previous books were better. I’m going to finish out the series, because I just love the way the author writes. It’s so easy to see the setting, to feel like you know the characters. In this particular story, I liked the plot, but it seemed to be tied up too easily. Still, it was well-written and enjoyable. If you like sweet, clean, contemporary romance, try this one.
HOME, IRISH SWEET HOME is a standalone read. There are no sexy scenes so any age can read and enjoy. It is part of a series, but you will not be lost if this is your first read. It is set in Bollygap, Ireland. the town is the author's imagination, but it fits the description of a small Irish village. Everyone knows everyone and they all look out for each other.Maggie, in her early 30's owns a health food store in her small village. She uses local things to make items for her shop. Some are things to eat, and some are for health issues. Everyone loves Maggie. She has lived in the village for 15 years when she came to live with her grandparents after her parents died. She was a rebellious, hurting teen but the village took her in, and she learn to love and be loved. She is happy with her life. That is, until Jake came to town.Jake from California has a 17 year old son traveling with him. Jake's company is one that develops golf courses all over the world. He has decided to build one in Ireland, and he is looking at Maggie's little village. It will bring jobs and revenue to the area. Like most places, they can use the financial help the golf course will bring to the village. Not everyone is excited about the plans. This story is really quite good. You will love Jake. He is a great guy, divorced but still gets along with his ex as they share a son. Noah is at an awkward age, not a child and not an adult. He is trying to find his way. His dad works hard at trying to have a relationship with his son, but it is like oil and water. They love each other but it is hard. This story covers a lot of emotions and of course, there is a great love story. I definitely recommend this book as well as the others in the series. I have really enjoyed them and learning about Ireland. I'm sure you are wondering what a corncrake is... If you haven't looked it up, it is a bird, and this bird plays a big part of this story. Good read.I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer, nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am not a bot. I am a reader, and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/8/2023.
What an amazing book! Jake and Maggie and their relationship, along with their struggles—I can only say it again—wow! I totally loved this story. And all the secondary characters were great; the two dogs and cat were a fun addition, too. So glad they were rescued! Michele Brouder, this is a wonderful series!
